Rila and Pirin are the highest mountain ranges in Bulgaria.  The mountains have diverse flora and fauna with a number of endemic and relict species. Furthermore, the largest Bulgarian monastery founded in the 10th century by Saint John of Rila, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983.

Pirin National Park is also UNESCO World Heritage Site and preserves rich flora, fauna and relict species. Thus, the combination of favourable natural conditions and various historical heritage makes Pirin an important tourist destination. Moreover, Bansko ski resort is a famous winter sports center not only in Bulgaria, but in Europe.

Spring in the high Bulgarian mountains is one of most dynamic seasons. Therefore, this promisses great conditions for landscape and nature photography! Furthermore, high mountains are full of blooming crocuses, melting mountain lakes and lush rivers.

Best time for capturing the blooming crocuses is from mid-May till mid-June. Thus depends from the weather and snow conditions. Later in June till end of July is also suitable for green mountain landscapes sceneries and waterfalls photography.
